007: Shadow of the Delayed Light
IO Interactive Delays Release of 007: First Light to May 27, 2026
IO Interactive recently announced that the highly anticipated game, 007: First Light, will be delayed by two months and is now set for release on May 27, 2026. The CEO and game director of IO Interactive, Hakan Abrak, shared the news in a social media post.
Abrak expressed that 007: First Light is their most ambitious project yet, promising an unforgettable James Bond experience filled with action, spycraft, gadgets, and more. The decision to delay the release was made to ensure that the game meets the high-quality standards that players deserve from day one.
Despite the delay, Abrak assured fans that the game is progressing well and is fully playable. The extra two months will be used to further polish and refine the game, aiming to deliver the strongest possible version at launch for long-term success.
The announcement of the delay comes after IO Interactive had previously revealed a March release date back in September and made a cast announcement at The Game Awards, with Lenny Kravitz set to play the villain Bawma. The timing of the delay announcement, just before Christmas, has raised some eyebrows.
With the recent delay of GTA 6 to the latter part of 2026, IO Interactive seems to have gained some breathing room. This additional time will allow them to fine-tune 007: First Light without rushing the development process.
007: First Light is scheduled for release on May 27, 2026, across multiple platforms including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The game is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, offering players the flexibility to play on both Xbox and PC through the Microsoft Store.
