2026 KGM Torres EVX price and specs: Ex-SsangYong SUV the latest Tesla Model Y rival

Korean automaker KGM has officially announced the newest addition to its lineup of mid-size SUVs – an electric SUV set to join a segment that is already filled with various options.

The KGM Torres EVX is now part of the brand’s range, alongside the petrol-powered Torres and its sleek Actyon variant, as well as the recently revealed Torres Hybrid.

Similar to the Torres Hybrid, the Torres EVX will be available at select KGM dealerships by the end of this month, with sales scheduled to commence on December 1, 2025.

Priced at $58,000 drive-away, the Torres EVX will come in a single trim level, which is $10,000 more than the top-spec Torres Hybrid K40 but $2000 less than the upcoming Musso EV.

Unlike the electric Musso dual-cab, the Torres EV does not offer an all-wheel drive option.

Both the Torres EVX and Musso EV mark KGM’s initial foray into the electric vehicle (EV) market in Australia, following the absence of the electric e-Motion version of the Korando, the brand’s first EV prior to its rebranding from SsangYong.

In terms of drivetrain and efficiency, the Torres EVX is equipped with a single-motor, front-wheel drive powertrain. According to KGM, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 37 minutes using a 300kW DC fast-charger, while a 100kW charger takes around 42 minutes for the same charge level. A full charge using an 11kW AC charger takes approximately nine hours, with the added capability of vehicle-to-load (V2L) for powering small electrical devices.

The vehicle specifications of the KGM Torres EVX include a single electric motor, an 80.6kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, 152kW power output, 339Nm torque, front-wheel drive, 1915kg kerb weight, 2435kg gross vehicle mass, 18.65kWh/100km energy consumption (WLTP), 462km claimed range (WLTP), 10.5kW max AC charge rate, 500kg unbraked towing capacity, and 1500kg braked towing capacity.

Safety features in the KGM Torres EVX encompass adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, leading vehicle departure alert, multi-collision braking, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit warning, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and eight airbags.

The standard equipment of the KGM Torres EVX includes 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, automatic high-beam, power sunroof, power tailgate, black roof rails, rain-sensing wipers, heated power-folding exterior mirrors, rear privacy glass, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leatherette upholstery, 8-way power-adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, heated outboard rear seats, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and rear door pull-up sun blinds.

The KGM Torres EVX will only feature a black interior in the Australian market, with Grand White as the standard exterior color and Space Black, Iron Metal, Latte Greige, and Forest Green available for an additional $700.

The KGM Torres EVX is covered by a seven-year, unlimited-kilometer vehicle warranty and a 10-year, unlimited-kilometer battery warranty.

As of now, the safety rating of the KGM Torres EVX by ANCAP is pending.
