2027 BMW iX1: Redefining Luxury with a New Body on the Revolutionary Neue Klasse EV Platform
The BMW iX1 electric SUV, the next-generation model, was recently spotted undergoing charging tests in Europe. This new version will deviate significantly from the current iX1, which shares similarities with petrol, diesel, and plug-in X1 models. The upcoming iX1 will be based on a shortened version of the Neue Klasse platform, exclusively for EVs, first introduced with the iX3 and soon to be used in the i3 sedan.
The iX3, featuring an 800V electrical system supporting fast charging up to 400kW, will initially launch with a dual-motor setup producing 345kW and 645Nm. It will have a 108kWh battery with a claimed WLTP range of 805km. A single-motor variant with a smaller battery is expected to be available globally by 2026, offering around 600km of range.
The prototype of the iX1 is heavily camouflaged, concealing many design elements. However, it appears to be a scaled-down version of the iX3, with a distinct front design featuring a double kidney grille and sleek lighting. The interior is expected to resemble the iX3, with a minimalist design and a floating touchscreen.
The iX1 is likely to offer Panorama Vision, a unique instrumentation display that spans the width of the car. With the i3 sedan set to debut in the near future, the global release of the new iX1 is expected around 2027.
