Amazon offers AI translation for self-published Kindle books

The Benefits of Amazon’s Kindle Translate Tool for Self-Published Authors

Amazon has unveiled a new AI translation tool called Kindle Translate, aimed at assisting self-published authors in releasing their ebooks in multiple languages. This innovative tool, currently in beta and available to a select group of Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) authors, simplifies the process of translating books with no extra cost.

With Kindle Translate, authors can effortlessly translate their works between English and Spanish, as well as from German to English. They have the flexibility to choose the languages for translation, set individual pricing for each translation, and preview the translated content before publication. Amazon ensures the accuracy of all translations before they are released, and ebooks translated using this tool will be labeled with a “Kindle Translate” tag.

Amazon aims to enhance the availability of multilingual content on its platform, noting that currently, less than 5% of titles are offered in multiple languages. Kindle Translate seeks to address this gap by making it easier for authors to reach a broader audience. Furthermore, books translated using this tool will be eligible for KDP Select and Kindle Unlimited, providing authors with additional opportunities for exposure.

This new ebook translation tool follows in the footsteps of Amazon’s audiobook platform, Audible, which recently introduced a multi-lingual AI narration feature. By leveraging AI technology, Amazon is empowering authors to expand their reach and connect with readers worldwide through translated content.
