Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos Takes on Co-CEO Role at Project Prometheus: A New Era of AI Innovation
The Rise of Jeff Bezos as Co-CEO of Project Prometheus
Jeff Bezos is embarking on a new professional endeavor by taking on the role of co-CEO at Project Prometheus, a cutting-edge startup that he is backing financially. The startup’s primary focus is on harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize manufacturing processes across various industries, such as computing, automobiles, and aerospace.
The New York Times recently highlighted Project Prometheus as one of the most well-funded early-stage startups globally, having secured a substantial $6.2 billion in investments, including contributions from Bezos himself. Alongside providing financial support, Bezos will collaborate closely with co-founder Vik Bajaj, a seasoned physicist and chemist with a background at Google X and Verily, an Alphabet-owned health tech firm.
With a rapidly growing team of nearly 100 professionals, Project Prometheus has attracted talent from prestigious companies like OpenAI, DeepMind, and Meta. Bezos’s involvement marks his first official operational role post his departure from Amazon’s CEO position in 2021. Despite this, he has remained active in the industry, particularly through his interest in Blue Origin, a space exploration company that recently achieved a significant milestone with the successful landing of its New Glenn booster.
