Amazon is set to relaunch its cloud gaming platform Luna with a new design and a focus on living room TVs, making it an easy-to-use system for a variety of party games.

The revamped Luna will feature a new GameNight feature, offering over 25 multiplayer party games including popular titles like “Angry Birds” and “Exploding Kittens,” along with the Amazon-exclusive game “Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg.”

“Courtroom Chaos” is a unique AI-powered improv courtroom game where players must defend their testimonies before Judge Snoop Dogg. It is the first of many party games developed in-house by Amazon, utilizing AI and cloud technology and exclusive to Luna.

According to Jeff Gattis, general manager of Amazon Luna, advancements in AI and cloud tech present opportunities to create new gaming experiences that were previously unimaginable.

Luna can be accessed on Fire TV, smart TV, or tablets, with players joining games by scanning QR codes with their smartphones. No special hardware is required, and the service is included in Amazon Prime subscriptions.

The primary objective of the new Luna is to redefine gaming by focusing on accessibility and fun, moving away from expensive hardware and solo gameplay. The platform aims to be user-friendly, affordable, and centered on family-friendly social activities.

Gattis emphasized, “Playing on the big screen usually means expensive consoles, costly graphics cards, and complex games. Luna aims to change that by offering a simple, social, and enjoyable gaming experience.”

The new Luna will also offer a selection of single-player video games to Prime subscribers, including titles like “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” “Dave the Diver,” and “Farming Simulator.”

Additionally, Luna Premium subscribers will have access to a wider range of games such as “EA Sports FC 25” and “Batman: Arkham Knight.”

The relaunch of Luna as a casual-friendly platform for newcomers and budget-conscious gamers reflects a shift in the industry towards more accessible gaming experiences.

Amazon’s move into cloud gaming and budget-friendly gaming markets presents an opportunity for the company to expand its presence in the industry and cater to a broader audience.
