Apple could put ads in Maps as soon as this summer

Apple to Introduce Ads in Maps App, Following Google’s Lead

In a recent report by Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, it has been revealed that Apple is gearing up to incorporate advertisements into its Maps app on both mobile and web platforms. The announcement of this new feature could potentially happen this month, with the actual rollout expected to take place in the summer. This move by Apple would allow businesses to secure top positions in search results on Apple Maps by paying for advertising placements.

Priority Search Results for Businesses on Apple Maps

According to Bloomberg, businesses that win the bidding for popular keywords such as “sushi” or “pizza” could potentially have their locations prioritized in search results on Apple Maps. This advertising model is reminiscent of Google Maps, where businesses can pay for higher rankings in search results, giving them a competitive edge over other similar establishments.

Boosting Revenue Through Advertisements

The introduction of advertisements in Apple Maps is projected to significantly increase revenue for Apple’s services division, which oversees various platforms such as the App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV, iCloud, and now advertising. In 2025, this division generated over $109 billion in revenue. Apple has been actively expanding its advertising offerings, including ad placements in the App Store, News, and Stocks apps. Developers have been informed that more ad slots will be available in the App Store search results in the UK and Japan starting March 3rd, with plans to extend this feature to the US and other countries by the end of the month, as reported by MacRumors.
