Apple recently launched several iOS updates, including iOS 26.2.1, iOS 18.7.4, and more.

However, Apple has now withdrawn some of these updates due to network connectivity issues in Australia.

In a support document released today, Australian telecommunications company Telstra states that they are currently investigating a problem that is preventing some older Apple devices from connecting to their network. This issue even affects emergency calls to 000 (equivalent to 911 in Australia).

Telstra is investigating an issue that is preventing some older Apple devices from connecting to our network, including calls to 000. We are working with Apple to address this as a top priority and will provide updates as we progress. We advise customers using these devices to hold off on updating their device software until the issue is resolved.

According to Telstra, the following devices may be impacted by this connectivity problem:

  • iPhone 8 updated to iOS 16.7.13
  • iPhone 8 Plus updated to iOS 16.7.13
  • iPhone X updated to iOS 16.7.13

Apple has halted the distribution of these updates for older iPhone models worldwide. This includes iOS 18.7.4, iOS 16.7.13, iOS 15.8.6, and iOS 12.5.8.

It is important to note that these updates do not contain any security patches, so delaying the release while resolving the connectivity issues is not detrimental.

iOS 26.2.1 remains unaffected by these problems and is still available for supported iPhones.
