Apple Pulls iOS Updates: Connectivity Issues Resolved

Apple pulls select iOS updates due to connectivity issues [Updated]

Apple recently released several iOS updates, including iOS 26.2.1 and iOS 18.7.4. However, some of these updates have been pulled back due to network connectivity issues in Australia.

According to a support document published by Telstra, a telecommunications company in Australia, there is an issue preventing some older Apple devices from connecting to the network. This includes the inability to make emergency calls to 000, the equivalent of 911 in Australia.

Telstra is currently working with Apple to resolve this issue and recommends customers using affected devices to delay updating their software until the problem is fixed.

The devices that Telstra has identified as potentially impacted by this problem are:
– iPhone 8 updated to iOS 16.7.13
– iPhone 8 Plus updated to iOS 16.7.13
– iPhone X updated to iOS 16.7.13

In response, Apple has halted the rollout of updates for older iPhone models worldwide, including iOS 18.7.4, iOS 16.7.13, iOS 15.8.6, and iOS 12.5.8. These updates do not contain any security patches, so pausing their release while addressing the connectivity issues is not detrimental.

iOS 26.2.1 appears to be unaffected by this problem and is still available for supported iPhones.
