Apple Announces Leadership Changes

Apple has revealed significant changes in its leadership team with the retirement of Lisa Jackson, the current vice president for Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives. Jackson is set to retire in late January 2026, after which Kate Adams, who has served as Apple’s general counsel since 2017, will be succeeded by Meta’s chief legal officer, Brett Newstead, on March 1st, 2026.

In light of these changes, Apple is reorganizing its structure and reallocating responsibilities. Sabih Khan, who will be taking over as Apple’s COO, will also oversee the Environment and Social Initiatives teams following Jackson’s retirement and Newstead’s appointment.

Apple has announced that the Government Affairs organization will be under the leadership of Adams until her retirement next year, after which Newstead will assume the role. Newstead’s new title will be senior vice president, General Counsel and Government Affairs, signifying the integration of these two divisions within Apple. Additionally, the Environment and Social Initiatives teams will report to Sabih Khan.

Lisa Jackson, who joined Apple in 2013, previously led the EPA during President Obama’s administration. She was later promoted to a policy lead role at Apple in 2015. Kate Adams, on the other hand, joined Apple in 2017 after a successful tenure at Honeywell.
