Apple says customers should 'update iOS to protect your iPhone from web attacks'

Apple has recently released a new support document advising customers to update their iOS devices to the latest versions to safeguard against web attacks.

According to the support document, security researchers have identified web-based attacks that target older versions of iOS through malicious web content. If a user with an outdated iOS version clicks on a malicious link or visits a compromised website, their iPhone’s data could be at risk of being stolen.

Apple has thoroughly investigated these issues and promptly released software updates for the most recent operating system versions to address vulnerabilities and prevent such attacks. Earlier this month, security updates were rolled out to older iPhones and iPads running iOS 15 and iOS 16.

Devices running iOS 13 and iOS 14 are urged to update to iOS 15 to benefit from these protections. Additionally, users will receive a notification to install a Critical Security Update in the coming days.

The latest public version of iOS is iOS 26.3.1, with Apple continuing to provide updates for iOS 18, including the recent release of iOS 18.7.6. Older devices that cannot run iOS 18 or later should be on iOS 15.8.7 or iOS 16.7.15 to ensure they have the latest security updates.

Apple also introduced the first Background Security Improvement for multiple devices this week.

In conclusion, staying up-to-date with the latest iOS versions is crucial to protect your device from potential security threats. Make sure to regularly check for updates and install them promptly to keep your iPhone secure.
