Apple’s Generous Return Policy Sets the Tone for a Festive Holiday Season
Apple is starting its 2025 holiday season a bit later this year, but the company is once again offering its extended “try-before-you-buy” return policy along with the usual Holiday Gift Guides and festive retail stores. The online store now showcases holiday picks focused on accessories and personalization, with special features like scheduling digital gift messages. Apple is expected to announce deadlines for ordering products to ensure delivery before Christmas as December approaches.
In addition to the online store updates, Apple has refreshed its physical stores for the holiday season. While there are no new products released, there is speculation about a possible surprise appearance of a HomePod mini 2 due to low stock levels. The color accents in most stores this season reflect a theme of blue and orange, aligning with the iPhone 17 Pro design with a touch of fall-winter aesthetics.
Apart from the visual updates, Apple is reintroducing one of its most shopper-friendly holiday traditions – the extended return policy. This policy allows recipients of gifts to return items until January 8, 2026, for a full refund, providing an opportunity for an extended trial period of Apple products. The policy applies to items purchased between now and Christmas Day, allowing gift recipients to have a standard 14-day return window starting on December 25.
While the extended return policy covers most items, there are exceptions to keep in mind, such as carrier-financed iPhones and certain ineligible products like opened software and Apple Gift Cards. The full terms and exceptions can be found on Apple’s website, with variations in return dates for different countries outside the US.
Apple’s holiday return policies also offer customers the chance to try out new products without immediate commitment. Although the extended return policy is not explicitly advertised for this purpose, it provides customers with the confidence to explore Apple products without the pressure of an immediate decision. The extended trial period ensures that customers are satisfied with their purchases, emphasizing the importance of customer satisfaction over pushing products out the door.
Overall, Apple’s holiday season is marked by its customer-friendly return policy, allowing for an extended trial period and ensuring customer satisfaction. The company’s focus on providing a seamless shopping experience and personalized gifts reflects its commitment to enhancing the holiday season for its customers.
