Apple to Unveil New Siri Features at WWDC 2026

Apple is set to introduce a revamped version of its Apple Intelligence AI platform during the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8th. According to a recent report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the highlight of the event will be the unveiling of a new iteration of Siri, Apple’s voice assistant, which will now serve as a “systemwide AI agent with deep integration across applications.”

Enhanced Siri Capabilities

The updated Siri will boast improved functionality in controlling various apps and features within iOS and macOS, as well as performing user-requested tasks using personal data sourced from emails, messages, and notes. Additionally, it will offer enhanced capabilities in summarizing daily news from Apple News and providing more detailed responses sourced from the web, such as summaries, bullet points, and images. These enhancements aim to position Siri as a more competitive AI-powered search tool alongside platforms like Perplexity and Google Gemini.

Introducing a Dedicated Siri App

While Siri will remain accessible through voice commands and the iPhone’s power button, Apple is exploring the possibility of launching a dedicated Siri app across its range of devices. This app will enable users to engage with Siri in a conversational manner, resembling the chat interface used in Apple Messages. Users can access their previous interactions with Siri, search through past chats, initiate new conversations, switch between voice and text modes, and upload documents and photos for analysis.

Redesigned Siri Interface

Apple is experimenting with various redesigns for Siri, including placing the assistant at the top of an iPhone’s screen in the Dynamic Island. Upon activation, users will be prompted with a “Search or Ask” option. The Siri interface will then expand into a larger translucent panel, allowing for continued conversation or additional inquiries. Furthermore, Apple is looking to enhance the capabilities of its Spotlight search system by integrating Siri, granting access to a wider range of data. Built-in apps will also feature an “Ask Siri” toggle in menus, simplifying the process for users to request more information or access related emails.
