Apple is planning to use a custom version of Google Gemini for Apple Intelligence

Apple to Enhance Siri with Google’s Gemini AI Model

In a groundbreaking move, Apple is gearing up to elevate its virtual assistant, Siri, by incorporating a tailored version of Google’s advanced Gemini AI model. According to a recent report by Bloomberg‘s reputable tech journalist, Mark Gurman, Apple is set to invest approximately $1 billion annually to leverage Google’s cutting-edge technology. This collaboration will empower Siri to deliver concise summaries and execute intricate planning tasks with precision.

As highlighted by Bloomberg, Apple intends to deploy the customized Gemini model on its Private Cloud Compute servers while retaining the use of in-house models for certain Siri functionalities. Gurman’s insights reveal that the Gemini model will harness a staggering 1.2 trillion parameters to enrich its decision-making process, surpassing the capabilities of the current 150 billion-parameter model underpinning Apple Intelligence’s cloud-based iteration.

During a recent investor briefing, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, disclosed that the revamped Siri is slated for a spring release, hinting at potential collaborations with third-party AI providers through Apple Intelligence. Despite the imminent partnership with Google, Bloomberg suggests that Apple remains committed to advancing its proprietary AI solutions, hinting at the possibility of eventually supplanting Gemini with an in-house alternative.
