Audi Reveals 2026 Formula 1 Car during Shakedown at Circuit de Catalunya

Audi recently conducted a shakedown of their 2026 Formula 1 car at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona, Spain, providing enthusiasts with a first look at the latest generation engine in action on the racetrack.

During the filming session, Audi’s works drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto took the Audi R26 F1 car for a spin, offering spectators the opportunity to witness the new engine’s performance on track for the first time.

The FIA has introduced significant changes to the Formula 1 engine for the 2026 season. While maintaining the 1.6-liter V6 turbo hybrid configuration, the internal combustion engine’s output has been decreased, while that of the electric motor has been tripled, resulting in a 50-50 power split.

Elimination of MGU-H and Enhanced Energy Recovery System

One of the key changes includes the elimination of the complex MGU-H. The Energy Recovery System (ERS) now has the capability to recharge the battery with twice as much energy per lap, enhancing overall performance.
