Beyond the Stars: For All Mankind Season 5 Unveiled in Liminal Film Expose
The latest season of Apple TV’s hit alternate history space series, “For All Mankind,” is set to premiere today. Subsequent episodes will be released every Friday until the end of May. Additionally, Apple Original Films has revealed plans for a new science fiction thriller.
“For All Mankind” Season Five kicks off with a significant time jump, transporting viewers nine years ahead since the “Goldilocks” asteroid incident, now set in the 2010s. The narrative unfolds on Mars, where a growing population in the Happy Valley colony faces escalating tensions with Earth’s governments vying for control. A startling discovery prompts debates on maintaining law and order on the red planet.
This series delves into an alternate reality where the Soviets triumphed in the moon landing race ahead of the United States, resulting in advanced technological developments compared to its 1960s origins. Returning cast members include Joel Kinnaman as astronaut Ed Baldwin, navigating the challenges of portraying an octogenarian character. Other familiar faces like Margo, Miles, and Ed’s daughter Kelly Baldwin will also embark on their own story arcs this season.
The fifth season marks the penultimate installment of “For All Mankind,” with the sixth and final season already in the works. Notably, a spin-off titled “Star City,” focusing on the Soviet perspective of the space race, is slated for a May 29, 2026 premiere.
In other news, Apple TV has unveiled plans for a new sci-fi thriller titled “Liminal,” starring Vanessa Kirby and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The film is adapted from the acclaimed graphic novel “Telepaths” by J. Michael Straczynski, Steve Epting, and Brian Reber, with direction by Louis Leterrier.
Based on the graphic novel’s premise, “Liminal” explores a world where a global electromagnetic event awakens telepathic abilities in a fraction of the population. As telepaths navigate newfound powers, a Boston police officer and a wrongly convicted hero become pivotal figures in a narrative of trust and survival.
Renowned writer J. Michael Straczynski, known for his work on “Babylon 5” and “Sense8,” penned the original graphic novel and will contribute to the film adaptation. Apple has yet to disclose casting details or a release date for “Liminal.”
Overall, the upcoming season of “For All Mankind” promises thrilling developments in its alternate history narrative, while “Liminal” offers a fresh take on telepathic abilities in a suspenseful setting. Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting projects.
