BMW 7 Series Facelift: Unleashing the Power of the B58 Engine
Exciting Changes Coming to the 2026 BMW 7 Series
The BMW 7 Series is set to receive a mid-cycle facelift in 2026, with a touch of Neue Klasse styling to elevate Munich’s flagship model. While spy shots indicate that the exterior design changes may not be as dramatic as initially anticipated, the iconic kidney grille and distinctive split headlights are expected to remain.
However, the real transformation is happening inside the “G70” model, where BMW is introducing its innovative iDrive X infotainment system and Panoramic Vision display borrowed from the iX3. This pillar-to-pillar projection on the windshield replaces the traditional instrument cluster, offering a customizable and immersive experience for both the driver and passenger sides.
Exciting news also emerges under the hood, as the B58 engine is rumored to undergo an upgrade, potentially delivering up to 400 horsepower in the new 740 model. This B58TÜ3 variant of the inline-six would mark a significant power boost compared to its predecessors, showcasing BMW’s commitment to performance and innovation.
The upcoming 740 model, dropping the “i” from its name, is expected to offer 25 more horsepower and 17 lb-ft more torque compared to its predecessor. Despite these improvements, it will still fall short of the most potent B58 engine currently found in Toyota’s Supra A90 Final Edition, boasting 429 horsepower.
BMW is also planning to expand the B58TÜ3 engine’s reach, with a lower-powered version in the form of the entry-level 735 model. This variant is set to deliver 286 horsepower, catering to a wider range of BMW enthusiasts.
Production of the updated 7 Series is slated to commence in July 2026, encompassing various models like the 735, 740, i7 series, and more. Additionally, ALPINA will introduce three exclusive variants with distinct styling enhancements for those seeking a more personalized touch.
Stay tuned for the latest updates on the 2026 BMW 7 Series, as Munich continues to redefine luxury and performance in the automotive industry.
