ChatGPT and Apple Music: A Potential Integration on the Horizon?

Published

on

Speculation about an Apple Intelligence feature for AI-generated playlists in Apple Music never materialized, but OpenAI may be stepping in to fill the void. In recent months, the company has been expanding ChatGPT to work with various apps and services, with Apple Music briefly mentioned as one of the integrations.

The hint was initially shared in a Substack post by Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s CEO of applications. However, after reports from 9to5Mac and other sources, the mention of Apple Music disappeared from Simo’s post.

The original text, as reported by 9to5Mac, stated:

Soon, according to Simo, “even more apps will be available in a new directory, including Adobe, Airtable, Apple Music, Clay, Lovable, OpenTable, Replit, and Salesforce, and other developers will be able to submit their apps for review.”

The current version of the post reads:

Soon even more apps will be available in a new directory, including Adobe, Airtable, Clay, Lovable, OpenTable, Replit, and Salesforce, and other developers will be able to submit their apps for review.

While it’s unclear whether the mention of Apple Music was a mistake, the close partnership between Apple and OpenAI suggests a potential collaboration in progress. This partnership is notable as ChatGPT is currently the sole third-party AI tool integrated with Apple Intelligence.

Although the original post only briefly referenced Apple Music, the potential integration could bring AI-generated playlists to the platform. This feature is highly anticipated by Apple Music users and aligns with the capabilities of ChatGPT, which already supports Spotify.

Enhancing Apple Music with ChatGPT could enable more sophisticated user requests and personalized recommendations, complementing Siri’s existing functionalities. While specifics of the integration remain speculative, the collaboration between OpenAI and Apple hints at exciting possibilities for iOS 26.3 or beyond.
