In Joliet, Illinois, a man was arrested for attempting to steal a Mercedes-Benz from a gas station. The owner caught the thief in the act and managed to pull him out of the car, despite the thief stealing the victim’s wallet during the scuffle. The thief returned moments later to retrieve the dropped iPhone he left in the car, leading to his arrest by the police.
Meanwhile, in San Luis Obispo, California, a man used a stolen credit card to purchase $5,000 worth of merchandise from an Apple Store. The suspect, described as wearing a black baseball cap and brown sweatpants, also attempted a purchase at Lululemon. The Department of Justice released investigative files on Jeffrey Epstein, revealing the government’s use of Cellebrite to access the iPhone 7 of former Trump adviser Steve Bannon. The search uncovered incriminating evidence, including a photo of Trump with Ghislaine Maxwell on Bannon’s phone and text messages between Bannon and Epstein.
In a separate case, Colombian national brothers were arrested for using Apple AirTag trackers to follow Asian business owners home and burglarize their properties.
