Comparing Ugreen NASync DH2300 and TerraMaster F2-212: A Comprehensive Analysis
When it comes to online stores, assume all links are affiliates. The company or PR agency usually provides review samples. However, they have no influence over my content, and I always give my honest opinion.
At the beginning of the month, I had the opportunity to review the Ugreen NASync DH4300 Plus. To my surprise, I was quite impressed with it, and I have continued to use it for backing up photos and cloud drives like OneDrive and Google Drive.
Ugreen has recently announced the launch of a two-bay version of this product called the NASync DH2300, set to be officially released on October 25th. The DH2300 is similar to the DH4300 but features two bays and a 1GbE LAN port instead of 2.5GbE, all at a more affordable price point.
This upcoming NAS from Ugreen is expected to be a top budget-friendly option for those looking for a NAS solution, potentially outperforming the TerraMaster F2-212. Despite the TerraMaster F2-212 being a great product, priced at £230 with a current Amazon price of £172.49, the DH2300 is listed at €209.99 in the EU and £169.99 in the UK before any discounts. At the time of writing, Ugreen had already reduced the price by 10% to £152.99.
The Ugreen DH2300 boasts a faster processor, more RAM, and better USB connectivity compared to the TerraMaster F2-212. It also offers HDMI output for media playback and a smaller footprint. The TerraMaster F2-212, on the other hand, excels in power efficiency and features like TRAID support and Btrfs file system with snapshot capabilities.
In terms of connectivity, the Ugreen DH2300 offers a 1GbE network, along with USB-C and two USB-A ports, providing a total combined bandwidth of 15Gb/s. It also includes HDMI 4K output. On the other hand, the TerraMaster F2-212 features a 1GbE network and a USB 3.0 port, but lacks the same level of USB connectivity as the DH2300.
When it comes to physical dimensions and power requirements, the Ugreen DH2300 is smaller in size and has a slightly lower power consumption compared to the TerraMaster F2-212. However, the TerraMaster F2-212 offers a longer warranty period of 2 years.
In conclusion, the Ugreen DH2300 offers superior performance with its 8-core processor and 4GB of RAM, making it ideal for multitasking, Docker containers, and transcoding tasks. The TerraMaster F2-212, while a decent option for basic file serving, may struggle with more demanding tasks due to its lower RAM and slower processor.
Considering the price point and feature set of the Ugreen DH2300, it is the recommended option between the two NAS devices. With its competitive pricing and impressive specifications, it is a compelling choice for those in need of a budget-friendly NAS solution. Transform the following
