Connecting Nova Act: The AI Agent, VS Code, Cursor, and Kiro

Amazon Introduces Nova Act Extension for AI Agents Testing
Amazon has recently launched the Nova Act extension, which allows developers to build and test AI agents directly within integrated development environments such as Visual Studio Code, Amazon’s Kiro, and Cursor. This new extension aims to streamline the process for developers by eliminating the need to switch back and forth between an IDE and a browser when testing agents.
One of the key features of the Nova Act extension is natural-language script generation, which simplifies the process of creating AI agents. Additionally, the extension includes a notebook-style builder for cell-by-cell execution, live debugging capabilities, and an ‘Action Viewer’ for comparing different workflow versions side-by-side.
Amazon’s AI model and toolkit, Nova Act, was first introduced in March and is part of the company’s broader effort to compete with other tech giants like OpenAI, Salesforce, Microsoft, and Google in providing AI tools for developers and businesses.
Visual Studio Code, a popular code editor with a wide range of extensions and cross-platform support, is the primary platform for Nova Act. Cursor, an AI-powered fork of VS Code, offers natural-language coding and smart search functionalities. Amazon’s Kiro, on the other hand, is an AI coding tool that automates project planning and technical blueprint creation through agents.
With the launch of the Nova Act extension, Amazon aims to enhance the development experience for AI agents and further establish its presence in the AI tools market. Developers can now seamlessly build and test AI agents within their preferred integrated development environments, boosting productivity and efficiency.
Key Features of Nova Act Extension:
- Natural-language script generation
- Notebook-style builder for cell-by-cell execution
- Live debugging with a unified view of code and browser actions
- ‘Action Viewer’ for comparing workflow versions
Overall, the Nova Act extension is a significant step forward for Amazon in its AI offerings, providing developers with powerful tools to create and test AI agents effectively.
