Exciting News for Digimon Fans: Major DLC Expansion Announced for Digimon Story Time Stranger
Bandai Namco and developer Media.Vision have revealed that a significant DLC expansion is currently in the works for Digimon Story Time Stranger. However, eager fans will have to exercise patience as the release is not scheduled until 2027.
The producer of Time Stranger, Ryosuke Hara, has confirmed that Aegiomon voice actor Mutsumi Tamura will make a return for this upcoming expansion. When questioned about the potential storyline implications of this casting decision, Hara intriguingly responded, “What an excellent line of reasoning. A really excellent question! And that’s all I have to say.”
Prior to Digimon Con 2026, Bandai Namco conducted a poll asking players to vote for their favorite Digimon from a list of 35 options. The top choices, including Gammamon, Loogamon, Kazemon, Gumdramon, and Pulsemon, will play a significant role in shaping the expansion. Hara mentioned, “We’re already in development, and while not everything from the Digi Referendum results we just announced will be making it in, after taking into consideration the world-building for this new expansion and future Digimon games, we will be partially reflecting those results.”
Despite the wait ahead, this news is a delight for Digimon enthusiasts. Digimon Story: Time Stranger has received positive feedback, with Jason expressing his enjoyment in our review, stating, “I really, really like Digimon Story Time Stranger. While it’s hardly upending the monster collection and battling genre, it’s a really comfortable and enjoyable game that feels reminiscent of watching Saturday morning cartoons as a kid. It’s an awful lot of fun, and is right up there as one of my favourite games of the year.”
For those interested, Digimon Story: Time Stranger is currently available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a Switch and Switch 2 port expected to launch on 10th July.
In addition to the expansion news, Bandai Namco has also announced a new mobile game titled Digimon Up. This game allows players to raise partner Digimon and engage in battles, all presented in a charming sprite pixel art style. Digimon Up is slated for release sometime in 2026.
