Double Fine Unleashes the Fire: Kiln Set to Release in April
Double Fine Announces Release Date for Kiln, a Pottery Party Brawler
Double Fine has revealed that Kiln, their unique pottery-themed party brawler, is set to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PC, and Xbox Game Pass on April 23rd. Exciting news for gamers eagerly awaiting this innovative title.
Before the official release, an Open Beta Throwdown event is scheduled from April 9 to April 11, exclusively on Steam. Participants can look forward to receiving a special participation trophy, adding an extra layer of fun to the gaming experience.
Although a new trailer is not available at the moment, fans can revisit the reveal of Kiln from the Xbox Developer Direct stream earlier this year, building up anticipation for its upcoming launch.
Kiln will be offered at a price point of $19.99 for the base game. Alternatively, players can opt for the $29.99 Fired Up edition, which includes premium glazes, stickers, attachments, custom pots, and bonus chips – an in-game currency for unlocks that are typically earned through gameplay.
Embracing a top-down 3D brawler aesthetic, Kiln starts with the creation of a unique pot that players can anthropomorphize and send into battle. From shaping the pot using various tools to executing special attacks like cups sprouting popcorn and plates flinging pies, the game promises a creative and engaging gameplay experience.
The main game mode in Kiln is called Quench, a 4v4 battle mode where teams must carry water into enemy territory to quench their rival furnace. Players will need to strategize and balance their team composition to achieve victory, as larger pots offer greater carrying capacity but are slower to move.
For a deeper dive into gameplay mechanics, Double Fine Productions’ Senior Community Manager, Rocio Salas, provides a walkthrough of the Quench game mode on the map Athena’s War Room, offering valuable insights for players eager to master the game.
