Emerald Technology Ventures, a prominent venture capital firm based in Zurich with a strong focus on the water sector, has recently announced a significant milestone. This achievement was made possible with the support of key partners including Temasek, Grundfos Foundation, Veralto Corporation, Ecolab, SKion Water, and Oxy Technology Ventures. This milestone comes shortly after Emerald’s strategic partnership with DIC Corporation, a leading Japanese chemical manufacturer, which established a €52 million investment platform.
Dr. Helge Daebel, a Partner at Emerald and a seasoned leader in the water practice, emphasized the importance of collaboration between influential organizations like Temasek and Grundfos Foundation in advancing water resilience technologies. The Global Water Fund II aims to connect long-term capital, industrial leadership, and breakthrough technologies to drive solutions across the global water system.
In a recent article by EU-Startups, it was highlighted that the water innovation ecosystem is experiencing continued investment activity. Companies like Hydrosat and PureTerra Ventures have secured significant funding to support their initiatives in agriculture, water resource monitoring, and water efficiency solutions.
Emerald Technology Ventures, with over two decades of experience in the sector, manages assets exceeding €1 billion and invests in startups addressing climate change and sustainability challenges. The firm’s Global Water Fund II, with a target size of €150–180 million, focuses on accelerating innovation in infrastructure, treatment, reuse, monitoring, and automation technologies within the water value chain.
The success of Emerald’s previous water fund has led to multiple WaterTech success stories and collaborations between corporations and startups. The firm’s commitment to supporting water startups in addressing global water and climate challenges is evident in its ongoing efforts to mobilize capital for water resilience technologies.
As a leading player in the industry, Emerald Technology Ventures continues to drive innovation and collaboration in the water sector, paving the way for a more sustainable future. With a strong track record and a clear dedication to making a positive impact, Emerald’s Global Water Fund II is poised to make a significant contribution to the advancement of water technologies worldwide.
