Enhanced Performance and Stability in iOS 26.1 Release Candidate
Apple has recently unveiled the iOS 26.1 Release Candidate (RC) to beta testers, providing a sneak peek into the upcoming software update for iPhones. One of the most notable features in this update is the introduction of the Liquid Glass toggle, allowing users to choose between a clear or tinted design. The tinted option adjusts the opacity level behind notifications and tab bars, while still retaining other Liquid Glass visual elements such as clear app icons.
The Liquid Glass toggle can be found in the Settings menu under Display & Brightness on iPhones and iPads, and in the Appearance section on Macs. Additionally, iOS 26.1 includes accessibility settings like increase contrast, reduce transparency, and more to cater to different user preferences.
Another significant addition in iOS 26.1 is the Lock Screen Swipe toggle, which allows users to disable the swipe to open Camera gesture on the lock screen. This feature can be accessed in the Camera settings menu, providing users with more control over their device’s functionality.
Furthermore, iOS 26.1 brings improvements to Apple Intelligence, AirPods Live Translation, Apple TV, and iPad Slide Over functionalities. Apple Intelligence now supports additional languages, while AirPods Live Translation adds support for more languages. The Apple TV streaming service has been rebranded to Apple TV, with a new icon to accompany the change. The Settings app now includes a Local Capture section for managing file saving locations and audio preferences.
Other enhancements in iOS 26.1 include a Slide to Unlock interface for dismissing alarms, a swipe gesture for changing songs in the Music app, and various other updates to enhance user experience.
The iOS 26.1 RC is currently available for developer beta testers, with the official release version expected to launch in the coming week. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated software update.
