Wyze’s new palm-scanning door lock has a second, backup battery

Introducing Wyze’s Innovative Palm Lock

Wyze has unveiled its latest product, the Wyze Palm Lock, a smart door lock that offers a unique way of access. Priced at $129.98, the Palm Lock is not only affordable but also packed with features that set it apart from other smart locks on the market.

One of the standout features of the Wyze Palm Lock is its ability to be unlocked by simply hovering your hand over it. This innovative palm-scanning technology eliminates the need for traditional keys or codes, providing a convenient and secure way to enter your home. Additionally, the lock can also be accessed using a physical key, a code, or the Wyze mobile app, offering multiple options for entry.

While the Wyze Palm Lock may not be as budget-friendly as the Wyze Lock Bolt, it offers enhanced functionality and security features. With a battery life of up to six months, the lock utilizes low-power millimeter wave radar to conserve energy, activating only when a person is detected nearby. The primary battery is rechargeable, and a secondary battery provides backup power for up to two weeks. In the event of battery failure, the lock can be temporarily powered using an external source via a USB-C port.

Palm vein recognition technology, used in the Wyze Palm Lock, is known for its high level of security and accuracy compared to fingerprint readers. This advanced biometric feature allows the lock to store palm vein IDs for up to 50 users and generate unique entry codes for additional access. The simplicity of waving your hand over an infrared sensor for entry adds a level of convenience and ease to the locking process.

Incorporating Wi-Fi connectivity, the Wyze Palm Lock enables remote locking and unlocking via the Wyze mobile app or voice commands through smart assistants like Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant. The lock’s gyroscope feature detects the door’s angle and movements, allowing it to automatically lock the door when closed or emit audible alerts if the door is left ajar for an extended period.
