Are you excited about the new iPhone 17? I had the opportunity to test it out for Tech Advisor’s review, and I must say, I’m impressed. The base model this year is fantastic, with numerous upgrades that bring it very close to the Pro model. The best part? The price has remained the same as last year, with added storage capacity.

As someone who previously used an iPhone 14, the new features like Dynamic Island and the Action button have been a game-changer for me. I’ve been exploring all the possibilities these features offer.

When it comes to customizing your Action button, the options are endless. From toggling Silent Mode to identifying songs or translating text, Apple provides a range of default actions. But what if you want to do more with your Action button? That’s where shortcuts come in.

Setting up shortcuts is a breeze. Here’s how you can do it:

1. Open the Shortcuts folder:
If you can’t find it on your homepage, simply do a quick app search. The icon looks like this:

2. Create a new folder:
Shortcuts has three tabs – Library, Automation, and Gallery. Head to Library and click on the new folder icon to create a new folder. Give it a name that reflects its purpose, like “Action” if you’re creating an Action button shortcut.

3. Choose what you want your Action button to do:
Once you’ve created your folder, it will appear under Folders in the Shortcuts library. Click on it and then on the plus symbol to add new actions. You can use the search box to find specific actions you want to add.

4. Set up your Action button:
After adding all the actions you want your Action button to control, go to the main Settings menu. Scroll down to Action Button, swipe through the options until you see Shortcut, and select the Action button shortcut you created.

5. You’re done!
Now, whenever you press your Action button, you’ll have access to the actions you’ve set up. Whether it’s silencing your phone, identifying a song, or controlling your smart devices, the possibilities are endless.
