Polestar teases influx of new models including a more practical SUV

Polestar, the Scandinavian auto brand, is gearing up for a major expansion in the electric vehicle market. They have announced the launch of several new models, including an updated Polestar 2 and a new variant of their popular Polestar 4, which will compete with the Tesla Model Y.

This move is part of what Polestar is calling the “largest model offensive in its history”, with a total of four new models set to hit the market over the next three years. The aim is to target the core of the market where demand is high.

The first of these new models will be the Polestar 5 grand tourer, set to arrive in Australia in mid-2026. Following this, a new version of the Polestar 4 will be introduced in Europe in the fourth quarter of 2026. This will be followed by a new generation of the Polestar 2 liftback in 2027, and the smallest SUV from Polestar, the Polestar 7, in 2028.

The new Polestar 4 variant will offer more versatility and space, combining the features of an estate and an SUV. This design is inspired by Sweden’s heritage in wagon-making. Spy images have revealed a more conventional SUV silhouette for the Polestar 4, complete with a rear window, unlike its predecessor that relied on cameras for rear view.

The upcoming Polestar 2 has been teased with a sleek design, hinting at a lower profile compared to the current model. It will feature the brand’s signature LED daytime running lights. The Polestar 7, on the other hand, remains a mystery with no new details revealed.

Polestar is optimistic about its future sales, aiming for double-digit growth this year. The brand plans to expand its retail network by 30% to support its growing lineup of electric vehicles.

In terms of sales performance, Polestar had a successful year in 2025, thanks to the introduction of new models. The brand saw a significant increase in sales in Australia, outperforming its competitors. However, internal competition within the Geely group poses a challenge, with upcoming models like the Polestar 5 and Polestar 7 set to compete with other brands.

Overall, Polestar is on track for a successful future in the electric vehicle market, with a strong lineup of models planned for the coming years. Stay tuned for more updates on Polestar’s latest developments. Visit the Polestar showroom to explore their current offerings.
