Google Expands Call Recording Feature for Pixel Phones

In a recent update, Google announced the expansion of the Call Recording feature for Pixel phones. This new feature is set to enhance the user experience and offer more functionality to users. To access the Call Recording feature, users need to update the Phone by Google app and ensure they have the November Pixel Drop installed. According to Android Authority, the feature is available on Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro Fold after the necessary updates have been completed.

AI-Powered Call Notes on Pixel Phones

Apart from Call Recording, Pixel 9 and above also offer AI-powered Call Notes. This feature uses artificial intelligence to transcribe phone calls and generate summaries that highlight key points and “next steps.” Users can easily access this feature on their Pixel phones, providing a more efficient way to manage call information.

Managing Call Recordings on Pixel Phones

Users can manually start recordings at the beginning of a call or set the Phone app to automatically record calls from specific numbers or unknown contacts. Additionally, users can choose to automatically delete recordings after a certain period or keep them indefinitely. This flexibility allows users to manage their call recordings according to their preferences.

Setting Up Call Recording on Pixel Phones

After enabling Call Recording, users are required to download audio files that notify all parties on a call about the recording. During the first call with Call Recording enabled, Google provides information on how the recordings are handled and stored, ensuring transparency and compliance with recording regulations.

Compatibility and Requirements

For Pixel 6 and newer devices, Android 14 or higher is required to use the Call Recording feature. Non-Pixel devices with the Phone app installed only need Android 9 or newer to access this functionality. This ensures a wide range of users can benefit from the Call Recording feature.
