Wing’s drone delivery is coming to 150 more Walmarts

Wing Expands Drone Delivery Services to More Walmart Stores

Wing has announced plans to bring drone delivery services to an additional 150 Walmart locations in 2026. This expansion will include the introduction of drone deliveries in four new cities: Los Angeles, St. Louis, Miami, and Cincinnati.

In a previous announcement in June 2025, Wing and Walmart revealed their intention to extend their delivery partnership to 100 more stores across Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. The companies have already launched drone delivery services in multiple stores in Atlanta, as well as Walmart stores in Dallas-Fort Worth and Arkansas. Currently, operations are running in approximately 27 stores, with a goal to expand to 270 Walmart locations by 2027.

Should Wing succeed in meeting its ambitious timeline, it would mark a significant advancement in drone delivery services, which have previously been limited in scope. By utilizing small electric multi-rotor aircraft for deliveries, companies like Wing aim to reduce the reliance on traditional polluting trucks for last-mile deliveries. This aligns with the efforts of sidewalk robot companies that are also exploring innovative delivery methods in urban areas.

Wing reports a growing demand for its delivery service, with the top 25% of customers ordering three times a week and a threefold increase in deliveries over the past six months.

The flagship drones used by Wing are capable of carrying payloads up to 2.5 pounds, while newer models can handle up to 5 pounds. These drones have a range of 12 miles round trip and can reach speeds of up to 65 mph. Utilizing tethers and hooks, the drones pick up items from designated distribution sites in Walmart parking lots and deliver them directly to customers’ doorsteps.
