Toyota’s 2026 bZ Woodland Shows What Global EVs Offer as Electric Vehicles Multiply on Nairobi Roads

Electric Vehicles Making Waves in Nairobi, Kenya

Exploring the bustling streets of Nairobi, particularly in the Central Business District (CBD), one can’t help but notice the increasing presence of electric vehicles (EVs). These vehicles, predominantly of Chinese origin, signify a growing trend towards sustainable transportation in the city.

Among the notable EVs cruising the streets are King Long buses, BasiGo, BYD Electric Cars, and Dongfeng, to name a few. Additionally, renowned automaker Toyota has also entered the Kenyan market with its line of electric cars, albeit less commonly seen on the roads.

One of the latest models making waves is the 2026 BZ Woodland, an extended version of the standard BZ SUV. Importing this vehicle into the country comes at a premium, starting at $46,750 (KES 6,030,750 excluding taxes and import duties) and reaching upwards of KES 8,600,000.

The 2026 Toyota BZ Woodland boasts a standard Dual Motor and all-wheel-drive powertrain, delivering up to 375 horsepower. Equipped with a 67 kWh battery pack, the BZ offers an estimated range of 260 miles before requiring a recharge.

Available in both base and premium trims, the BZ Woodland promises a blend of performance and luxury. As more details are anticipated prior to its official release, enthusiasts can expect an exciting addition to the EV market in Nairobi.
