Highguard Raid Shooter to Shut Down Servers Next Week

The upcoming closure of developer Wildlight’s raid shooter, Highguard, has been confirmed to take place on March 12th. In an announcement made on the game’s official Twitter account, the team expressed their decision to cease operations, citing the inability to maintain a sustainable player base.

Despite attracting over two million players, the game’s popularity was not enough to ensure its longevity. This serves as a reminder that even with a sizable player community, a game can still struggle to survive in the competitive market.

According to the post shared by the developers, the servers will remain active until March 12th, allowing players to participate in final matches and show their support for the game. Despite the team’s dedication and effort, the lack of a sustainable player base ultimately led to the decision to shut down.

Although the game will soon be unplayable, an upcoming update is scheduled for release, featuring a new Warden, weapon, account level progression, and skill trees. This final update aims to provide players with new content before the closure.

While the exact reasons behind Highguard’s closure are not fully disclosed, reports suggest that Wildlight’s leadership may have contributed to the decision. The fate of the studio itself remains uncertain, leaving the future of its remaining staff in question.

As we await further developments, we extend our best wishes to the team members affected by the closure and hope for their successful transition to new opportunities in the industry.
