Fender Bender Frenzy: The Epic Battle of Lawful Racers and Chaotic Crashers in Wreckfest 2 Career Mode
Exploring Wreckfest 2’s Career Mode: A Detailed Overview
Are you more inclined towards wrecking supervans or racing with stock cars? Do you see yourself as a British couch racing champion or do you lean towards Finnish folk racing? These are the questions that players will need to ask themselves when delving into Wreckfest 2’s upcoming career mode, as outlined by Bugbear Entertainment.
In a recent developer blog post, Bugbear Entertainment shed light on their plans for Wreckfest 2’s career mode. They highlight the common pitfall of traditional racing game career modes, where players start with slow cars, progress through events, and eventually acquire faster vehicles. To break away from this repetitive structure, Wreckfest 2’s career mode aims to cater to diverse player preferences by offering three distinct player profiles.
The first profile caters to players who enjoy clean racing, while the second profile is tailored for demolition derby and contact-heavy racing enthusiasts. The third profile, known as “The Bonebreaker,” is a wildcard category that prioritizes fun and unique vehicle scenarios, such as lawnmowers racing against motorized toilets and motorhomes.
These player profiles further branch out into specific categories, as illustrated in the alignment chart below:
Players will have the flexibility to choose their focus each time they engage with the career mode, allowing them to progress through the game’s four divisions: European Racing, Demolition Derby, Banger Racing, and American Racing. Each division features multiple difficulty tiers, and progression is not solely based on winning events but also on achieving specific accomplishments.
Accumulating a specific type of score across events is crucial to meeting the division’s requirements. The scoring system varies based on the discipline and game mode, offering players the freedom to choose how they earn score and which events to participate in.
For instance, an accomplishment like ‘Finnish Folk Racing Champion’ may require 10,000 points of racing score across six events. Skilled racers can achieve this in fewer events by winning and setting fast laps, while less experienced players may need to complete more events with mid-pack finishes. Those who excel at drifting can earn points by showcasing stylish sideways maneuvers, even if they finish towards the back of the pack.
Furthermore, the criteria for scoring points vary depending on the event type. Racing-focused events emphasize high finishing positions and fast laps, while contact-heavy events reward players for engaging in collisions. Demolition derby events prioritize crashing opponents effectively.
Overall, Wreckfest 2’s career mode promises a dynamic and engaging experience, provided that each segment of the mode receives equal attention to ensure a well-rounded gameplay experience.
