Oulu-Based CleanTech Company Filtrabit Secures €2 Million Funding Commitment

Filtrabit, a CleanTech company based in Oulu, Finland, has recently announced a significant milestone in its growth journey. The company has secured a €2 million funding commitment from Ajanta Innovations 2 Ky for its upcoming financing round. This funding will play a crucial role in supporting Filtrabit’s expansion plans and helping the company bring its innovative dust extraction technology to new markets.

The Finnish startup, established in 2011, specializes in manufacturing industrial-scale dust extraction systems. Filtrabit’s modular technology is designed to address the dust control challenges faced by industries, with a focus on improving air quality both inside and outside industrial plants. The company’s solution effectively extracts microparticles from dust-laden gas streams, contributing to the reduction of air pollutants from industrial sources and promoting the reuse of recovered raw materials.

Dr. Kim Fagerlund, CEO of Filtrabit, expressed his enthusiasm about the funding commitment, stating, “The increasing demand for better dust control is driven not only by environmental regulations but also by operational and economic benefits achieved by implementing the most modern raw material collection and recycling methods available. Our technology has now been proven in practice in several applications in Finland and is ready to be implemented in operations globally.”

With plans to expand into new markets outside Finland, including the Nordics, Central Europe, and India, Filtrabit aims to leverage the capital infusion to accelerate its growth trajectory. The company offers dust separation units on an operating lease model and provides support for designing the necessary hooding and ducting through its partner network.

According to Filtrabit’s website, the modular units are serially manufactured and portable, allowing for customizable capacity and retrofitting without the need for building permits. The installation process is efficient, with the possibility of completing it in a single day when the required ducting is in place. Additionally, the devices can be equipped with various sensors to meet specific data requirements of customers.

In addition to the recent funding commitment, Filtrabit has received recognition and support from various organizations. In May this year, the company raised €2 million in financing for its continued growth. Subsequently, in June, Business Finland awarded Filtrabit a €600k grant to support product development. Looking ahead, the company secured €4 million in lease financing facilities from the Finnish Climate Fund and a €5 million loan from Norion Bank in 2024.

Overall, Filtrabit’s dedication to innovation and sustainability in the CleanTech sector positions it as a key player in the industry. With a focus on providing effective solutions for dust control and air quality improvement, the company is poised for further expansion and impact on a global scale.
