First Look: Toyota’s Spacious Seven-Seat Electric SUV Interior Revealed
Toyota’s New Electric SUV Interior Revealed Ahead of Launch
Toyota is gearing up to launch its flagship electric SUV, with the Japanese automaker recently unveiling images of the vehicle’s interior. The much-anticipated debut is scheduled for February 10 in the US.
The upcoming electric SUV boasts a seven-seat layout featuring second-row captain’s chairs, indicating that it will likely be a top-of-the-range model. The interior is adorned with white leather and leatherette on the seats, steering wheel, dashboard, centre console, and door cards.
Drivers can expect a large digital instrumentation display in front of them, complemented by a sizable infotainment touchscreen at the center of the dashboard. The screen includes a volume knob/power button for the stereo, capacitive buttons for the climate control system, and a row of physical buttons underneath. The dashboard and door trim also feature electric blue ambient lighting for added style.
Notable features of the new Toyota electric SUV include a panoramic glass roof, a three-zone climate control system, and perforated leather seat trim.
Rumors suggest that Toyota will market the vehicle as the bZ Highlander in the US, leveraging the strong reputation of the 26-year-old nameplate known for family-friendly SUVs.
Following a mid-life facelift, Toyota USA rebranded the bZ4X as the bZ and the stretched bZ4X Touring as the bZ Woodland for the American market.
A teaser image recently revealed the distinctive tail-light graphics of the upcoming electric SUV. With its three-row configuration, the new model is expected to be longer than the 4.85m bZ4X Touring/bZ Woodland.
The American-built Highlander, known as the Kluger in Australia, has been a popular seven-seat SUV Down Under. Production of the new three-row electric SUV will take place alongside the Highlander/Kluger in Indiana. Originally slated for production in late 2025, the launch was delayed to prioritize the petrol and hybrid Grand Highlander, along with its Lexus TX counterpart.
It remains unclear whether the new electric SUV will be available in right-hand drive or offered in Australia. Should the model make its way to Australian shores, a new name may be necessary due to the Highlander designation being used by Hyundai in the country.
Additionally, there are speculations that a Subaru variant of the electric SUV could be in the works to complement the petrol-powered three-row Ascent SUV. The bZ4X has already been rebranded as the Solterra in Subaru dealerships, with the bZ4X Touring sold as the Trailseeker in the US and the E-Outback in Europe.
Exciting times lie ahead for Toyota enthusiasts as they await the official unveiling of the highly-anticipated electric SUV. Stay tuned for more updates!
