Forgis Revolutionizes Industrial Automation with €3.8 Million Funding Boost
In a significant development, Forgis, a startup based in Zurich, has secured a pre-Seed funding round of €3.8 million ($4.5 million). The funding will be utilized to further its projects in the automotive and advanced manufacturing sectors, focusing on the development of software to automate industrial machines.
The round was spearheaded by redalpine and saw participation from notable investors such as Massimo Banzi, the co-founder of Arduino, along with others from the DeepTech and manufacturing sectors.
Forgis’ CEO, Federico Martelli, highlighted the critical challenges faced by manufacturers in minimizing downtime, maximizing throughput, and reducing quality scraps. He emphasized the need for modern solutions in an industry where outdated systems are causing significant losses.
The funding round for Forgis comes at a time when European industrial automation and physical-AI startups are attracting increasing investor interest. Notable rounds in countries like Switzerland, Germany, Italy, and Spain have further emphasized the growing focus on advanced robotics and automation technologies.
Forgis, founded in 2025, specializes in developing edge software that enables industrial machines to become autonomous, collaborative, and intelligent. The startup aims to revolutionize industrial operations by upgrading existing systems with advanced intelligence, thereby improving production performance in real time.
Through its innovative software, Forgis connects machines, PLCs, and robots from different brands into a unified layer, creating self-improving systems capable of diagnosing and solving inefficiencies autonomously.
Early pilots with European manufacturers have shown promising results, with significant reductions in configuration times and downtime, along with notable increases in throughput.
Forgis’ vision is to bridge the industrialization gap between the West and China by adding an intelligent software layer to existing factory ecosystems. This approach aims to make reshoring a smarter choice, ultimately enhancing flexibility and efficiency in complex industrial environments.
With ongoing projects in the automotive and advanced manufacturing sectors, Forgis has already partnered with industry giants like IBM. Its platform seamlessly integrates with systems from vendors such as Siemens and ABB, further enhancing operational efficiency.
