The Simpsons Collaboration in Fortnite: A Huge Success

November has brought exciting news for Fortnite fans as the game collaborates with The Simpsons for a special event. This cross-over includes animated shorts, a brand new island, cel shaded graphics, and a lineup of beloved characters from The Simpsons universe. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with Epic Games reporting a significant influx of new and returning players, reminiscent of last year’s holiday season.

Epic took to social media to share the success, stating, “In just 48 hours, we saw the largest number of new and returning Fortnite players since last holiday season. The first Fortnite | The Simpsons short quickly rose to the top spot on Disney+ in the US, surpassing all expectations.”

According to fortnite.gg, the event saw a peak of nearly 2.7 million concurrent players. While this is an impressive number, it’s essential to provide context. The all-time peak player count remains at 14.34 million during the Fortnite Remix: The Finale event in November 2024. Additionally, the current peak doesn’t surpass the highs seen earlier this year, reaching close to 6 million players in June. The surge in “new and returning” players indicates a re-engagement of past gamers rather than the regular player base.

The highlight of the event is the introduction of Springfield Island, a battleground for up to 80 players offering a classic battle royale experience. Each week brings new themed gameplay, shop items, and surprises, including hidden Easter eggs and three challenging bosses to conquer.

Accompanying the gameplay are original animated shorts, a collaboration between Gracie Films and Epic Games. These shorts are available on Disney+ and Fortnite’s social channels, with a new episode premiering every Monday starting from November 10. The episodes are titled:

  • November 1 – “Apocalypse D’Oh”
  • November 10 – “Sugar High”
  • November 17 – “Multiplidiocy”
  • November 24 – “The Incredible Bulk”

The success of the Fortnite and The Simpsons collaboration is evident in the overwhelming response from players and fans alike. The unique blend of gameplay, graphics, and beloved characters has created a memorable experience that continues to attract and engage a wide audience.
