Fresh Style: The Latest MINI x Paul Smith Collaboration Unveiled at Japan Mobility Show 2025

MINI and British Designer Paul Smith Collaborate on New Edition
MINI and renowned British designer Paul Smith have come together once again to introduce their latest collaboration, the MINI Paul Smith Edition. This exciting new vehicle will be unveiled at the Tokyo Mobility Show on October 29, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing creative partnership between these two iconic brands.
The collaboration between MINI and Paul Smith dates back to 1998 when Smith first adorned a Classic Mini Cooper with his distinctive multicolored stripes. This initial project was followed by the creation of a special “Signature Stripe” model to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Mini. Both designs captured the playful essence of the brand and Smith’s unique blend of style and utility.
Subsequent collaborations between MINI and Paul Smith have continued to push the boundaries of design. The MINI STRIP, introduced in 2021, represented a radical reimagining of a car’s essential form, focusing on simplicity, transparency, and sustainability.

In a more recent project, Smith revisited his original 1998 design by converting the striped Mini into an electric vehicle as part of the MINI Recharged initiative. This endeavor showcased how heritage and modern technology can coexist, preserving the classic Mini’s charm while updating its powertrain for contemporary roads.
At the upcoming Tokyo Mobility Show, the MINI Paul Smith Edition will be unveiled alongside MINI’s current lineup, which includes the electric Cooper SE, the versatile five-door S variant, the spirited Convertible, the performance-driven John Cooper Works Aceman, and the rugged Countryman S ALL4. Each model reflects a different aspect of MINI’s evolution, blending design heritage with cutting-edge technologies.
The Japan Mobility Show, featuring over 130 exhibitors from across the globe, serves as a prominent platform for showcasing innovative ideas in design, technology, and sustainable mobility. For MINI and Paul Smith, this event provides a fitting backdrop to revisit their collaborative efforts that have consistently balanced simplicity and creativity.
