Ram Rampage ute headed to Europe – could Australia be next?

Ram is gearing up to introduce its more compact and affordable Rampage dual-cab ute to markets outside of Latin America, with a European debut on the horizon. However, the company has not yet confirmed plans for right-hand drive production.

The Brazilian-designed and manufactured Ram Rampage will make its debut at Fieracavalli 2025, a prestigious horse show in Italy scheduled for November 6-9, 2025.

Ram has hinted at the ute’s European launch without specifying a timeline, stating that it will cater to the evolving needs of European drivers looking for a blend of everyday practicality and rugged utility.

Positioned as a vehicle bridging the gap between C-SUVs and midsize pick-ups, the Rampage is expected to offer a compelling value proposition, according to a press release from the company. More details will be revealed at the conclusion of the event.

Launching the Rampage in Europe would provide Ram with a better-suited option for European driving conditions compared to its full-size pickups, which have limited appeal in the region.

Unlike the recently unveiled Ram Dakota Nightfall for Latin America or the upcoming US-built mid-size body-on-frame dual-cab ute, the Rampage is a lifestyle-oriented vehicle based on the Jeep Compass’s car-like unibody platform.

While the Rampage is the first Ram model designed and produced in Brazil, there have been indications that it would be available in markets beyond Latin America.

Earlier this year, Ram obtained a US design patent for the Rampage, hinting at a potential launch in its home market. The model could compete with popular offerings like the Ford Maverick and the Hyundai Santa Cruz, both of which are based on crossover SUV platforms.

The Ram Rampage, which debuted in Brazil in 2023, boasts compact dimensions, measuring 5028mm long, 1886mm wide, and 1780mm tall on a 2994mm wheelbase. This sets it apart from larger competitors like the Ford Ranger.

Powering the Rampage are a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 203kW and a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel engine with 149kW. Both engines are paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The Rampage offers solid payload capacities and a spacious lined tub with LED lighting and a power tailgate, making it a versatile option for various needs.

While Australia has a rich history with utes, the Rampage’s future in the market remains uncertain due to the lack of confirmation regarding right-hand drive production. Whether the Rampage will make its way to Australian showrooms is yet to be determined.
