Future Tech: A Sneak Peek at the Best Phones & Tablets of MWC 2026
This year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) is just around the corner, promising four days filled with exciting mobile product announcements and innovations.
While major surprises may be unlikely at the event next week, with big brands opting for separate announcements, there is still plenty to look forward to. Samsung, Google, and Xiaomi have already unveiled significant new smartphone hardware recently, making the MWC event a global launch for many of their new devices.
Even with smaller brands, the modern press and social media landscape have given us a glimpse of what to expect on the showroom floor in Barcelona.
Despite this, there are three devices that have caught my attention in the lead-up to MWC 2026, each offering something unique to the mobile landscape.
Tecno Modular Phone
Tecno, based in Hong Kong, is stepping up its game with the Tecno Modular Magnetic Phone, a concept that could revolutionize modular phones. This sleek device incorporates a magnetic accessory ecosystem, allowing for various camera configurations, battery expansions, lanyards, and even a game controller to be attached to its slim frame.
The potential of this concept is intriguing, and MWC should shed more light on its feasibility as a product.
Motorola Razr Fold
Motorola is set to unveil its first book-style foldable, the Motorola Razr Fold, at MWC 2026. This foldable smartphone is expected to offer an exciting new form factor and features, potentially addressing pricing concerns that have plagued similar devices.
One standout feature of the Motorola Razr Fold is its support for the Pen Ultra stylus on both screens, a feature absent in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Honor MagicPad 4
While the Honor Magic V6 foldable may steal the spotlight, the upcoming Honor MagicPad tablet is a compelling announcement to watch for. With a 12.3-inch 165Hz OLED display and a flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, all in a remarkably thin 4.8mm frame, the Honor MagicPad promises to deliver a complete tablet experience.
Pricing will be a key factor in determining the appeal of the Honor MagicPad, potentially making it a standout tablet offering.
Honorable Mentions
London-based Nothing will be unveiling its new phone shortly after MWC, promising a unique take on smartphone design and features. The Nothing Phone (4a) is a significant release for the brand, offering innovations like the Glyph notification lighting system.
Additionally, the global debut of the Xiaomi 17 series is highly anticipated, with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra expected to be a strong contender for the Best Camera Phone title in 2026.
