Gemini 3 Flash: The Ultimate Upgrade for the Gemini App

Google has announced the launch of Gemini 3 Flash, an upgraded version of its flagship AI model within the Gemini app. This new model, set to replace Gemini 2.5 Flash, is designed to handle complex requests efficiently. Not only will it be integrated into the Gemini app, but it will also make its way to Google Search.

The release of Gemini 3 Flash follows closely on the heels of Gemini 3 Pro, which showcased significant advancements in reasoning, coding, and multi-tasking capabilities. Google describes Gemini 3 Flash as a model that combines the Pro-grade reasoning of Gemini 3 with Flash-level speed, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Tulsee Doshi, the senior director and head of product at Google DeepMind, expressed excitement about the transition to Gemini 3 Flash, calling it a “huge upgrade” for most users. Doshi highlighted the faster response times and more detailed answers that users can expect compared to Gemini 2.5 Flash.

Google touts Gemini 3 Flash as outperforming its predecessor, Gemini 2.5 Pro, while operating at a fraction of the cost. The company provided an example of Gemini 3 Flash generating plans based on videos and images within seconds. This new model will not only be available in the Gemini app globally but will also power the AI Mode in Google Search.

Developers will also have access to Gemini 3 Flash, as it will be integrated into various Google platforms such as Google AI Studio, Gemini API, Google Antigravity, Gemini CLI, Android Studio, and Vertex AI.
