Google Earth’s expanded AI features make it easier to ask it questions

Google Earth Enhances AI Features for Improved User Experience

Google has recently expanded its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities within Google Earth, making it easier for users to interact with AI models. For instance, users can now chat with Google Earth AI models to identify infrastructure vulnerable to natural disasters or pinpoint communities at risk during extreme weather events.

One of the key updates is the integration of Gemini, a system that connects various Earth AI models like weather forecasts, satellite imagery, and population maps. This integration allows Google Earth to provide more comprehensive answers to user queries during chat interactions. The geospatial reasoning framework, previously available only to Google’s trusted testers, is now accessible to a wider audience.

Google Earth users can now combine their own data with Google’s Earth AI models, enabling them to analyze imagery, population trends, and environmental factors. This feature empowers users to gain deeper insights into various geographic phenomena.

The integrated chat functionality, initially piloted last year, allows users to easily identify objects and patterns in satellite imagery. For example, users can monitor drinking water supplies by instructing Google Earth to search for “algae blooms.” Select Google AI Pro and Ultra users in the US will have access to the Gemini chat feature with enhanced capabilities. In the near future, Google plans to extend access to Earth AI models with Gemini functionality to US users with professional or professional advanced plans.
