Google Pixel Update: Say Goodbye to Annoying Phone Features
Google Pixel Users Rejoice: At a Glance Widget Removal on the Horizon
Google Pixel users may soon have the option to bid farewell to the contentious At a Glance widget that graces their smartphone’s home screen.
For many TechAdvisor team members, their Google Pixel 10 phones are cherished possessions. However, even these die-hard Pixel fans acknowledge a persistent flaw in the Pixel Home Screen layout.
The inability to remove the At a Glance widget from the main Home Screen of a Pixel phone remains a source of frustration.
While Google’s multi-functional widget has its merits (personally, I’m a fan), the lack of choice to replace it with an alternative or nothing at all is undeniably irksome.
Furthermore, why does the widget occupy so much valuable screen space?
Android Authority
Glancing blow
Fortunately, there are signs that Google is working to address this issue.
In the latest pre-release build of the Android OS, Android Authority has spotted a new “Show on home screen” toggle in the At a Glance settings.
This toggle’s purpose appears clear – in a future Android version, users may finally have the option to remove the At a Glance widget from the Home Screen. It may still remain on the lock screen, a minor inconvenience, but a step in the right direction.
The long-standing request to remove this dominant widget reflects a desire for greater customization, a hallmark of the Android platform. The fulfillment of such requests may be on the horizon.
