Google, Sony Innovation Fund, and Okta Join Forces for Advanced Deepfake Detection with Resemble AI
Resemble AI Secures US$13 Million Investment for AI Deepfake Detection
Resemble AI, a leading provider of AI deepfake detection solutions, has recently closed a strategic investment round, raising US$13 million. This latest funding round brings the total venture investment in the company to US$25 million. Notable participants in this round include Berkeley CalFund, Berkeley Frontier Fund, Comcast Ventures, Craft Ventures, Gentree, Google’s AI Futures Fund, IAG Capital Partners, among others.
The necessity for robust deepfake detection tools has grown significantly as organizations face mounting pressure to authenticate digital content. With the rise of generative AI, criminals are able to create increasingly convincing deepfakes, leading to over US$1.56 billion in fraud losses in 2025. Analysts predict that generative AI could contribute to as much as US$40 billion in fraud losses in the US by 2027.
Recent incidents, such as the case in Singapore where scammers impersonated legitimate entities to defraud individuals, highlight the urgency for advanced detection methods to combat deepfake threats.
Resemble AI’s Innovative Solutions
Resemble AI specializes in real-time verification tools designed to identify AI-generated audio, video, images, and text. The company plans to utilize the new funding to expand the reach of its AI deepfake detection platform, which includes two key releases:
- DETECT-3B Omni: A cutting-edge deepfake detection model tailored for enterprise settings, boasting a remarkable 98% detection accuracy across more than 38 languages.
- Resemble Intelligence: A comprehensive platform offering explainability for multimodal and AI-generated content, leveraging Google’s Gemini 3 models.
Resemble AI envisions these tools as integral components in enhancing real-time verification for both human users and AI agents as they interact with digital content.
The company reports widespread adoption of DETECT-3B Omni in sectors like entertainment, telecommunications, and government. Public benchmark assessments on Hugging Face reveal the model’s exceptional performance in image and speech deepfake detection, surpassing competing models in terms of accuracy.
Industry experts emphasize the rapid advancement of generative AI and its profound impact on content trust and identity systems within enterprises. Key stakeholders from Google’s AI Futures Fund, Sony Ventures, and Okta acknowledge the necessity for robust verification mechanisms to bolster authentication processes.
Future Trends in Deepfake-Related Risks
Resemble AI also released insights into the anticipated evolution of deepfake-related risks in 2026. The company predicts several transformative shifts that could influence enterprise strategies:
Deepfake verification as a standard: Real-time deepfake detection may become mandatory for official communications following recent incidents, potentially leading to increased adoption in the public sector.
Organizational readiness as a competitive advantage: Enterprises that implement early training, governance, and compliance processes are likely to be better equipped to navigate evolving AI regulations.
Identity-centric security approaches: With a focus on identity-centric security models, organizations may prioritize zero-trust frameworks to safeguard both human and machine identities.
Rising cyber insurance costs: The escalating number of corporate deepfake incidents could prompt insurers to reassess policies, potentially resulting in higher premiums for companies without adequate detection tools.
The recent investment in Resemble AI underscores the critical need for enterprises to understand and mitigate the risks associated with generative AI. Businesses across all sectors are evaluating strategies to enhance content trust, identity verification, and incident preparedness within their security and compliance frameworks.
