Google is making it easier to import another AI’s memory into Gemini

Google Gemini Introduces New Features for Importing AI Memory

Anthropic recently updated its tool for transferring AI memory to Claude, sparking Google Gemini to unveil its own “Import Memory” and “Import Chat History” features for desktop users. These tools allow individuals to efficiently migrate their existing AI’s knowledge to Gemini. By incorporating the “Import Memory” tool, users can seamlessly transfer data by following simple copy-and-paste instructions provided by Gemini. This process ensures that Gemini is equipped with the user’s preferences and information.

Moreover, the “Import Chat History” feature enables users to export their chat logs from their previous AI and upload them to Gemini as a .zip file, with a capacity of up to 5GB. This allows users to seamlessly continue their conversations from where they left off with their previous AI. Additionally, users have the flexibility to delete specific chat histories or entire .zip file imports through the Chat menu or settings section.

In an exciting update, Google has rebranded the “past chats” feature in Gemini as “memory.” Both Import Memory and Import Chat History functionalities are now accessible to both free and paid consumer accounts on desktop. However, these new features are currently not available for users with business, enterprise, or under-18 accounts.
