Here’s how Google describes its fee-reducing Apps Experience and Games Level Up programs

Requirements for Apps Experience Program

To be a part of the Apps Experience Program, app titles must adhere to certain requirements that are subject to regular updates with prior notice to developers.

a. Form Factor Requirements

Developers are required to publish titles on all necessary form factors with exceptional quality, depending on the app’s category. Certain form factors may not be mandatory if providing a quality experience is not feasible due to technical constraints.

  1. Stability: Includes frame rate stability, crash rate, ANR, memory usage thresholds, and jank thresholds.
  2. Quality: Utilization of Jetpack Compose or an equivalent alternative to ensure a high-quality app experience across all form factors.
  3. Supporting Design Systems: Integration of Android’s equivalent when supporting a comparable non-Android platform’s design system.
  4. Adherence to Android Platform Standards: Maintaining the latest Android platform standards.
  5. Availability on Various Form Factors: New titles must be available on mobile, large screen, XR, TV, Wear, and Auto form factors within a specified timeframe.
  6. Category Specific Requirements: Implementation of category-specific quality requirements as defined by the program.

b. Experiential Standards

Developers must ensure a consistent app experience by meeting experiential standards across all apps, including:

  1. User Sign-In Support: Provision of entitlement and sign-in restoration for apps supporting user sign-in.
  2. Engage SDK Integration: Integration of Engage SDK for supported categories.
  3. Feature Parity: Maintaining feature parity between Android and other platforms within a specified timeframe.
  4. Support for Play’s Content Discovery: Providing metadata and assets as required for Play’s content discovery experiences.
