Google Introduces New Agentic Feature for Gemini

Google has unveiled a new agentic feature for Gemini that allows users to delegate tasks to the assistant within select apps like Uber and Grubhub. This feature operates in the background while users continue to use their phones. Google emphasizes that users have the option to supervise or interrupt the assistant’s actions at any time. The feature will be initially available on Samsung S26 phones, preceding similar features for Siri that have faced delays.

Enhancements to Circle to Search Functionality

In addition to the Gemini update, Google is introducing new features to Circle to Search. This feature enables users across the Pixel 10 lineup to search for items on their screens by drawing a circle around them. Users can now use Circle to Search to deconstruct outfits and search for individual pieces, as well as virtually try on different looks.

Updates to Magic Cue for Pixel Devices

Google is also enhancing Magic Cue, a feature that offers proactive suggestions based on context across various apps. For instance, when a friend requests a restaurant recommendation, Magic Cue will automatically provide suggestions tailored to their preferences. This feature will be rolled out to the Pixel 10 series in select countries and languages. Additionally, these devices will introduce a new “comfort” view that reduces visual stimulation from bright or saturated colors.

New Features for Older Pixel Phones

Google is bringing new features to older Pixel phones as well. Users with Pixel 8 and newer models will experience a new desktop interface when connected to an external display. Pixel 7 and above users can utilize Google’s At-a-Glance widget to receive updates on departures, delays, and alternate routes for their commutes. Furthermore, Pixel 6 and newer devices will gain support for a Now Playing app that identifies music in the vicinity, custom AI-generated app icons, and the ability to view sports scores and stock market prices directly from the home or lock screen.
