Highguard: A New Era of PvP Action Unleashed
Introducing Highguard: A New PvP Raid Shooter
Highguard is an exciting new PvP raid shooter brought to you by the talented minds behind Apex Legends and Titanfall. This innovative game combines the thrill of gunplay with the enchantment of magic, all while throwing in a dash of horseback riding for good measure. Players step into the shoes of a Warden, tasked with fighting for the Shieldbreaker to gain the upper hand in smashing into the enemy base.
While much of the game remains shrouded in mystery, the trailer hints at a visually stunning experience. The hero character designs are undeniably impressive, though they do tread familiar ground with some typical stereotypes. One can only hope for a day when a wizardly muscle brute with long-range attacks breaks the mold of the rage-fueled combatant archetype.
The trailer showcases the heroes’ flashy and spectacular abilities, reminiscent of the Supers seen in Destiny 2. Some similarities in animation can be noted, but when it comes to spellcasting gestures, there’s only so much variation to be had.
Among the game’s offerings is the option to ride horses, bears, panthers, and even a medieval take on the Thundertank from Thundercats. However, one cringe-worthy moment in the trailer comes from a blonde character exclaiming the overused phrase “Bring the heat,” a cliché that has worn thin in the world of video games.
Highguard adopts a free-to-play model, providing players with a promising entry point. Yet, the realm of F2P shooters is fiercely competitive, with established titles like RedSec, Fortnite, Overwatch 2, and COD Warzone dominating the landscape. Many have attempted to carve a niche in this market, only to fall short.
Mark your calendars for January 26th, 2026, as Highguard is set to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Will you be among the first to sign up and immerse yourself in this captivating world of magic and mayhem?
