Honda Racing Corporation Unveils Prelude GT500 Race Car for 2026 Super GT Season

Honda Racing Corporation recently introduced its latest race car, the Prelude GT500, which is inspired by the design of the popular Prelude road car. This new addition will participate in the upcoming 2026 Super GT season, taking over the spot previously held by the Civic Type R GT.

The prototype of the Prelude underwent testing on October 1st in preparation for the upcoming season. The Prelude GT500 will compete in the Super GT series alongside competitors such as the Toyota GR Supra GT500 and the Nissan Nismo GT500.

The Prelude GT500 closely resembles the Honda Prelude road car in its appearance and is set to replace the underperforming Civic Type R GT. The Civic Type R GT made its debut in 2024, taking the place of the NSX GT.

Due to performance issues with the Civic Type R and its four-door layout, Honda made the decision to shift to the Prelude model. The Honda racing team is optimistic that this change will help them achieve their competitive goals in the upcoming Super GT season.
