Hyundai Recalls 4,555 Units of 2026 Kona SUVs Due to Faulty Steering Knuckles

The 2026 Hyundai Kona, despite being a new model, has recently been subject to a recall due to issues with its steering system. Specifically, the recall affects 4555 units of the SUV, all of which are 2026 models equipped with gas engines and were sold in the United States.

According to the report submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) by Hyundai, the issue stems from front steering knuckles that may have been cast incorrectly, leading to cracks developing during maneuvering, particularly during sharp turns. This puts additional pressure on the steering knuckle assembly, potentially causing it to fracture and resulting in a loss of control over the steering wheel. However, Hyundai has confirmed that no accidents or injuries related to this recall have been reported.

Owners of affected vehicles are advised to take their Konas to their local dealer for inspection. If the steering knuckles require replacement, the work will be carried out free of charge under the standard warranty plan. Hyundai plans to notify dealers by April 6, 2026, and owners can expect to receive notification letters on the same day.
